Progression to Post-18

Our Sixth Form is highly aspirational and has a strong track record of supporting students to progress successfully into a wide range of post-18 destinations. While the majority of students choose to remain in London for university, we also have students who progress to highly competitive universities across the UK, including Cambridge, Manchester, Bristol, and Edinburgh.

Within London, popular destinations include Brunel, City, Queen Mary University of London, and SOAS, alongside Russell Group universities such as UCL, King’s College London, and Imperial College London. With many of the world’s leading universities located close by, our students are well placed to access exceptional higher education opportunities.

Destinations Overview

Our students progress to a wide range of destinations, reflecting both ambition and individual choice. In recent years:

  • The majority of students have progressed to university degree courses
  • A significant proportion have secured places at Russell Group universities
  • A growing number have successfully accessed higher and degree apprenticeships
  • Some students have chosen foundation years to support progression into higher education
  • A small number each year progress into employment or specialist training routes

These destinations reflect the diverse strengths and aspirations of our student body and the personalised guidance provided throughout Sixth Form.

High Aspirations and Support

We encourage all students to aim high and provide structured support to help them achieve ambitious and appropriate post-18 destinations. Our students are well supported throughout the UCAS process and are given the guidance needed to make informed and confident choices about their future.

Key areas of support include:

  • Personal statement development and refinement
  • University course and institution selection
  • Interview preparation and guidance
  • Student finance and accommodation advice
  • Post-results and clearing support

Alongside this, students benefit from a strong careers education programme and work-related learning opportunities, supporting progression into university, apprenticeships, and employment.

University Links and Enrichment

We have strong and established links with a range of higher education institutions. Each year, students have the opportunity to take part in visits to Oxford and Cambridge, alongside engagement with colleges such as Jesus College, Cambridge, and Magdalen College, Oxford.

We also work closely with a number of London universities, who regularly visit St Augustine’s to deliver outreach sessions, subject talks, and enrichment activities. These experiences help students to deepen their understanding of higher education and support them in making well-informed post-18 decisions.

Our Commitment

At St Augustine’s Sixth Form, we are committed to ensuring that every student is fully supported to progress onto a pathway that is right for them. Through high expectations, expert guidance, and strong partnerships, we ensure that students leave us confident, prepared, and ambitious for their future.
