Careers and Work Related Learning

Sixth From provision

The school is actively engaged with a number of businesses across London and the UK. We provide numerous opportunities for our students to engage and develop their employability skills in school and offsite. St Augustine’s has committed a specialist member of staff who has led on over 40 business engagement events across 2018/19 for a range of students. We are very proud of this on-going provision, which won us a Business in the Community Champion Award -presented by Prince Charles, and really feel this is something St Augustine’s can offer above and beyond an engaging curriculum and active school life.

As members of our Sixth Form, students will gain these experiences to strengthen university applications, develop training opportunities and step directly into employment. Our Work Related Learning Manager, Mr Ydri, is committed to these programmes and describes some of our provision below.

We are members of renowned national schemes such as Business in the Community and Young Enterprise Centre of Excellence in Finance Programme. Our business partners iamYiam, Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC), Lloyds Banking Group, Keepmoat, Marriott, and Santander have enriched our curriculum through the delivery of exciting workshops and events which our students find extremely useful.

These have included:

  • iamYiam Inspirational Speakers from the word of Science and artificial intelligence
  • PwC / mentoring Programme, insight days, work-shadowing and work experience
  • Lloyds Banking Group / financial literacy workshop, careers guidance days and work experience
  • Marriott Hotel / mock job Interviews
  • Santander / saving and spending workshops and work experience
  • Skills London careers event
  • One to one careers meeting
  • One-week work experience in year 12
  • Russel group careers event
  • University visits
  • Guest speakers from different job sectors

More information about all of these opportunities and career paths post-Sixth Form are available via our Work Related Learning and Careers department or for more information contact Mr Abdel Ydri, work related learning manager, on extension 259.
