Design and Technology

Welcome to the Design and Technology department.

We believe that the Design and Technology/cooking and nutrition play an important role in developing students into creative thinkers who can independently appreciate the value of each stage of the design process when problem solving and create design solutions that are realistic and innovative.  We have designed the sequencing of schemes of work to optimise learning and ensure that students gain the best knowledge, by building on key skills every year to create a natural progression in Design and Technology. Design and Technology at St Augustine’ covers three specialist areas: Graphics, Product Design & Cooking and Nutrition, this gives students an opportunity to identify, apply and develop the fundamental terminology, techniques materials and processes of each DT specialism. On this page, you will information about projects which students’ study in DT.

The Year 9 Options Process is an important stage in your child’s education. It’s the time when they have the opportunity to choose some of the subjects they will study for the next two years.
We understand that this can be both exciting and a little overwhelming, as there are often many questions from both students and parent/carers.

Visit our Options Process webpage here for full details, guidance, and support to help you and your child make informed choices.
