KS3 Curriculum Overview

Key Stage 3 Curriculum Overviews: Years 7, 8 and 9

At St Augustine’s, we believe it is important that parents and carers have a clear understanding of what their children are learning in school and how their knowledge, understanding and skills develop throughout the year.

Our Year 7, 8 and 9 Curriculum Overviews have been designed to provide families with an accessible guide to the curriculum being taught in each subject. They outline the key topics students will study, the important questions they will explore and the knowledge and skills they are expected to develop.

We encourage parents and carers to use these overviews to take an active interest in their child’s learning. They can help families start conversations about what students are studying, ask questions about particular topics, support revision and independent learning, and encourage children to make connections between different subjects and their wider experiences.

The overviews also help parents understand how learning builds progressively throughout Key Stage 3, preparing students for the increasing demands of Key Stage 4 and their future educational pathways.

The current overviews cover September 2026 to February half term 2027. Updated curriculum overviews will be published in January 2027, setting out the learning planned for the remainder of the academic year, from February half term through to July 2027.

We hope these resources will strengthen the partnership between home and school and support parents and carers in taking an informed and active role in their child’s education.
