UCAS & Unifrog

Our students are very well supported in preparing for their future education and career pathways. From the beginning of Year 12, students are introduced to Unifrog, an online platform funded by the school that provides high-quality, impartial and tailored careers guidance. It enables students to explore a wide range of post-18 options including university, apprenticeships, employment, and vocational pathways, supporting them to make informed and confident decisions about their future.

Throughout Year 12, students use Unifrog to complete psychometric assessments, build their CVs, explore career pathways, research university courses and apprenticeships, and create shortlists of suitable post-18 options based on their interests, strengths, and aspirations.

Our Sixth Form Pastoral and Academic Mentor plays a key role in supporting students throughout this process, working closely with students to guide, challenge, and support their progression planning. In addition, our pastoral programme includes dedicated careers and next steps sessions, ensuring students regularly reflect on and review their post-18 intentions.

We also work closely with our Work-Related Learning Lead, providing students with a wide range of enrichment opportunities including employer encounters, workshops, university engagement, and apprenticeship insights. These experiences help students connect their studies to real-world pathways and future ambitions.

A key highlight of the year is our “My Futures Week” in June, which provides students with intensive, focused guidance on post-18 options, including university applications, apprenticeships, careers planning, and employability skills.

In Year 13, students focus on refining and completing their UCAS applications and personal statements. This process is supported through targeted workshops, pastoral guidance, and individual feedback. Students also receive structured support through our Sixth Form team and form tutors, ensuring their applications are of the highest quality.

Our overall programme is carefully designed to support a smooth and successful transition beyond Post-16 education, whether into higher education, employment, or apprenticeships, ensuring students leave Sixth Form fully prepared for their next steps
