Science

Welcome to the Science department

The Science curriculum is designed to provide an engaging and practical learning experience that expands students’ knowledge of Science’s broader applications while fostering their curiosity, interest, and enjoyment of the subject.

At St Augustine’s, our Science curriculum has been planned to ensure students develop the knowledge and skills throughout their experience of Science to allow for progression, access to higher level courses and to develop a deeper understanding of the world and the impact they can have on it in the future.

Aims of the Science Department in line with the National Curriculum (2015):

  • Develop scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding through the specific disciplines of Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
  • Develop understanding of nature, processes and methods of science through different types of science enquiries that help them to answer scientific questions about the world around them.
  • Ensuring students are equipped with the scientific knowledge required to understand the uses and implications of science, today and for the future.
