Posted: 22nd August 2025

St Augustine’s High School is proud to celebrate the achievements of its Year 11 students in the 2025 GCSE examinations. This cohort has demonstrated remarkable determination and resilience, having missed the end of their primary education in Year 6 and faced a disrupted start to secondary school due to the pandemic, this year group have worked hard to perform well in their exams.

Despite these challenges, 80% of this year’s Year 11 students have English as an Additional Language (EAL), and a significant number of students met or exceeded their target grades, particularly in securing the highest grades of 7, 8 and 9.

We are especially pleased to report improvements in the percentage of students achieving Grades 7-9 across a range of subjects, including:

  • GCSE Art and Design
  • GCSE Business
  • GCSE Computer Science
  • GCSE English Literature
  • GCSE History

Among the many individual success stories are:

  • Abdul,  who achieved an incredible five Grade 9s in English Literature, English Language, Computer Science, Religious Studies and Physics, along with four Grade 8s in Biology, Chemistry, History and Maths.
  • Layal, who was awarded seven Grade 9s in Combined Science, English Literature, English Language, History, Religious Studies, as well as a Distinction* in Business, a Grade 8 in Maths, and a Grade 7 in Spanish.

They have overcome significant challenges with maturity and strength. We are incredibly proud of all they have achieved and of the staff who have supported them throughout their journey. This is a day of celebration not just for grades, but for grit and growth.”

Mr Moriarty, Head of Federation said “Congratulations to our Year 11 students on their GCSE exam results. These students have had to overcome the challenges of the pandemic which led to some significant disruptions to their learning. They have shown perseverance and character during their time with us and it has been a pleasure having them as part of our vibrant  learning community. We look forward to working with many of them again next year in our Sixth Form. Thank you to our staff for all that they do in helping our students strive to “be the best we can be”.
