A Level and Vocational Success for St Augustine’s Year 13 Students!

Posted: 24th August 2023

We are delighted to announce our success in the recent A Level and Vocational exams. Our Year 13 students have demonstrated their dedication, hard work and commitment to being the best they can be.

In a year that has presented unique challenges, with our students sitting exams for the very first time since the Pandemic, our students have risen to the occasion and our results are a testament to their unwavering pursuit of excellence.

Nearly 40% of all A Level grades were A*-B. A Level Fine Art, Graphics, Business, Film Studies and Further Maths all secured 100% A*-C grades, with 80% A*-C in English Literature and just under 70% A*-C for History and Sociology.

Our Vocational Subjects performed extremely well with the number of Distinction* and Distinction Grades increasing from 18 in 2022 to 41 in 2023. 64% of our students scored a Distinction*- Distinction and 90% achieved a Distinction*-Merit Grade and 100% Distinction*-Pass. 75% of students taking the Business Studies CTEC achieved a Distinction*-Distinction, 80% of students achieved a Distinction*-Distinction in ICT CTEC and 75% achieved a Distinction*-Distinction in BTEC Sport.

Several of our students secured top positions at Russell Group Universities, such as UCL, Imperial College London, Durham University, King’s College London and Queen Mary University.

  • Fatimah Ghandour achieved A* in Chemistry, A* in Maths, A in Further Maths, A in Physics and is going to Imperial College to study Chemical Engineering.
  • Francesco Chaba achieved an A* in History, A in Politics, A in Religious Studies and is studying Philosophy at Durham.
  • Abdelrahman Elraghi achieved a A* in Italian, A in Biology, A in Chemistry and Distinction* in Sport and is studying Medicine at Imperial College London.
  • Gehazi Pembele achieved a Distinction* for Sport, Distinction for ICT and Distinction for Business and is studying Computer Science at the University of Reading.

Many of our students also secured their first choice University place, accepting offers from Brunel, Westminster, Greenwich, Birkbeck, SOAS, Kingston, Southbank and Bristol to study Biomedical Sciences, Aerospace Engineering, Pharmacology, Psychology, Criminology, Law, Business Management, Diagnostic Radiography, International Relations and Computer Science.

We are immensely proud of our students’ achievements and in addition to our university students, we also have students pursuing internships in ICT. Year 13 student, Dylan Mawji, who achieved an A for Chemistry, B for Maths and B for Physics, has accepted an apprenticeship with Deloitte, reaffirming our commitment to inclusive education and supporting all our students with their own ambitions and pathways after the Sixth Form.

“Considering the disruption to their education these students have had through their GCSE and 6th Form as we work our way back from a Pandemic, I am very proud of all our students’ achievements. These results are a testament to our shared vision that all students can be the best they can be. We will continue to strive for excellence and provide a platform for our students to grow and be given opportunities to excel” Rachel Kelly, Head of High School.

St Augustine’s is not just a place of learning but a community that fosters growth, innovation, and achievement. We are immensely proud of our students’ achievements and grateful for the hard work and dedication of all our staff who guided them on this journey.
