Curriculum Overview

Curriculum Statement

We want all of our community to have equal opportunities to experience Life in all its fullness (John 10:10).

We encourage all community members to “be the best we can be in every aspect of our lives as we grow in the Christian virtues of Faith, Hope and Love (1 Corinthians 13)” so that they can go on to contribute to and serve the wider community.

Our ambitious offer gives every student access to a broad and balanced curriculum including a whole school work related learning program. Our world class business links allow us to build knowledge and skills for future learning and employment. All students follow an EBAC curriculum throughout Key Stage 3 (Year 7-9) including curriculum time dedicated to Art, Design and Technology, Music, Drama and PE. We have an effective options pathway for our students to ensure minimal changes to key stage 4 courses and higher levels of success rates. All students except for a very small cohort of complex SEND or Medical needs study a minimum of 8 GCSEs with the majority sitting 9. We have introduced the PIXL Them and Us Programme to support our pastoral programme through assemblies and during Form Time, focusing on ‘Being Kind, Respecting Others and Living without Harm.’ This programme is mapped out alongside the PSHCE programme, including dedicated curriculum time for students to access a quality PSHCE Curriculum. Our curriculum is supported by a wide range of trips and visits which are intended to open the eyes of our students to experiences that they may not have had previously, especially for our disadvantaged students.

Our school recognises the importance of preparing students for the world of work and is really committed to helping all students develop their employability skills from the start in year 7. We have strong relationships with a variety of business partners who offer numerous activities in school and offsite.

We are members of renowned national schemes such as Business in the Community, The Tri- Borough Employability Passport, and Centre of Excellence in Finance Programme. Our business partners Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC), Lloyds Banking Group, Keepmoat, Marriott and Santander have enriched our curriculum through the delivery of exciting workshops and events which our students find extremely beneficial.
