2nd December

Workskills students in year 11 took part in an online live job interview session as part of their vocational course. The workshop was organised by our business partners Construction Youth Trust, Mace - an International Consultancy & Construction Management company and Murphy Group– a specialist engineering and construction company.

10th December

Last Wednesday, a group of year 12 students attended a university fair – Raising University Aspirations organised by Making the Leap. The event, which took place at Central Hall Westminster, included no less than twenty five universities: University College London, University of Cambridge, Brunel University, Kings College London, University of Exeter, University of Leeds, Goldsmith, Loughborough University, Royal Holloway, University of York and many more.

10th December

Parents, carers and students had the opportunity to discuss and learn about apprenticeship opportunities within the construction sector when attending our Academic Review Day on Thursday 5th and Friday 6th December. We partnered with Construction Youth Trust who sent two representatives to highlight the range of job roles within the sector and how apprenticeship could equip young people, while learning and earning, with core skills and help them get into the labour market.

3rd December

A group of year 10 students joined a workshop on conservation at ZSL London Zoo last week as part of Westminster Enterprise Week. The day started with a talk on conservation projects around the world and at London Zoo, followed by a hands on activity that saw students approaching different employees at London Zoo to enrich their knowledge of what is being done to protect animal species, then creating a Vlog and finally presenting before a panel of scientists. Students had to work collaboratively, were time-restricted and encouraged to think creatively when putting their digital message together.

30th October

Seven of our sixth formers took part in the Budding Brunels programme, from 9th to 11th October, organised by Construction Youth Trust. During this three-day course they completed the following activities:

10th October

A student panel discusses the future of employability skills with 60 business representatives.

On Wednesday 9th October, a panel of students from key stages 4 and 5 joined a conference on essential skills organised by BiTC (Business in the Community). Students had the opportunity to engage with a variety of businesses, such as UBS, Heathrow Airport and Ricoh, to debate the future of employability skills and how businesses could support schools more and differently in training students to develop essential skills. Their conversation highlighted the positive impact of support from businesses and debated how to make it more influential and long lasting.

8th October

A few days ago, a group of year 10 students took part in a teamwork skills workshop delivered by Prince’s Trust. Tasks included reflecting on personal attributes, skills and positiveness as a way to success and how everyone’s contribution can lead to achieving more and strengthening their group project. Some students took this opportunity to present to our guest -Katie Webb Samuels their current individual research work - Global warming, catastrophic outcomes of wars and harmful consequences of bullying. Work completed will constitute part of their coursework for the module ‘Presentation Skills’ and counts towards gaining the Personal Development and Employability Skills award.
