The St Augustine’s Charity Committee

The St Augustine’s Charity Committee (proudly led by Year 13 Student Directors- Zainab, Nasseem and Sarah) are incredibly proud to announce that their Bake Sale & Non Uniform Day raised £1,100 in aid of Children in Need! The student led committee promoted, publicised and organised the event, assisted by the fantastic Ms Nicholls who organised two weeks of baking with her team, the committee and her team of trusty volunteers. We are incredibly proud of this total and incredibly grateful for the generosity of our students, teachers and the entire community! The Charity Committee have led some wonderful events this term and we look forward to our Festive Jumper Day in aid of Crisis on Friday 10th December.

On Friday 26th November, 17 students from Year 7-13 were invited to meet School Governor, Ms Mohammed, to discuss their involvement in Student Leadership across the St Augustine’s community.

Ms Mohammed was interested in learning all about how we utilise student voice, how our students have successfully set up a range of clubs, committees and councils, and what their plans are for the future. With representatives from the School Council, Sports Council, Wellbeing, Charity and Eco Committees, as well as Head Students Malak and Sidra, the students were able to share their successes this term. These range from; their incredible fundraising for Children in Need and Noah’s Ark Hospice, the environmental review of the school for the Eco Award, encouraging more of us to get involved in sport through the newly formed Sports Council and the sharing of mental health resources from the Wellbeing Committee.

There is no doubt that what they have achieved is hugely impressive and we look forward to more student led activities in form time, across the school with new playground equipment, and plenty more societies and clubs to promote enrichment. Ms Mohammed was very proud of their work and will visit again for some further updates in 2022!
