School Closed on 11th and 18th December - Students to work from Home

Dear Students, Parents and Carers

I am writing to you this afternoon regarding a decision I have made to close the school tomorrow Friday 11th December.

You may be aware that we have been experiencing issues with our boilers which are not currently operating at full capacity. Our engineers have identified the problem and have been working hard to rectify it, but it has not been possible to maintain a constant temperature around the building.

As I am sure you will appreciate, we are also acutely aware of the need to ensure that there is a constant flow of fresh air providing ventilation to as many areas of the school as possible. The combination of these two factors has meant that we cannot warm the school building sufficiently and the current temperature is not conducive to effective teaching and learning.

Please be assured that our engineers will be working to ensure that the boilers are up and running as soon as possible and we look forward to welcoming the students back in on Monday.

The remote learning policy will become operational tomorrow. For most students, this will mean logging on to Show My Homework, whereas for Years 12 and 13 live lessons will be available on Teams where possible.

I do not take this decision lightly and apologise for any inconvenience it may cause. The health and safety of students and staff must however, always come first... read more here.
