PSHCE

Hi, Year 7s!

I’m Miss. Pilon and I’m the PSHCE Co-ordinator at St. Augustine’s CE High School.

What is PSHCE?

PSHCE is:

Personal – to do with ourselves, our self-esteem and how we feel about ourselves
Social – to do with our interactions and relationships with others, which includes online interactions and conflict resolutions between people
Health – all about looking after our bodies, mentally and physically
Citizenship - the knowledge and skills needed to play a full part in society as active and responsible citizens.
Economics – all about managing our money (the E also stands for education too)

Why is PSHCE important?

At St. Augustine’s, we believe that PSHCE is a school subject through which pupils develop the knowledge, skills, and attributes they need to keep themselves healthy and safe, and prepared for life and work.

We believe that PSHCE is truly the curriculum for life, as it promotes social, moral, physical, emotional, and mental development in all of our students.

When will you be having PSHCE lessons?

All year 7s are required to have one 50-minute PSHCE lesson a week! Throughout the year, these lessons will be accompanied by several guest speakers and presentations!!
